“If you love something, set it free. If it comes back then its yours, if it doesn’t then it was never meant to be”
“Do what you have to do until you can do what you want to do” Oprah Winfrey
“And suddenly… It’s time to start something new and trust the magic of beginnings.” Meister Eckhart.
The week after I finished my first half-marathon, I signed straight up to my next one, it was a bigger event, I was to follow a heavier training plan and I was full of enthusiasm, only 3 months until I started my training!
Those 3 months were possibly the hardest 3 months of my life.
While nobody pretends that training for an event like a half marathon is easy, there are some things that I wish that I had known before I started (not that I’d change my experience for the world!), so I decided to share them. They may not all be applicable to everyone, but hopefully they’ll give an insight into what to expect from training.
One week ago today, I ran my first ever half marathon and, it may sound dramatic, but training for this event completely changed my life. I learnt so much about myself along the way that it became more than just a race and almost a journey of discovery.
